Who are we?

Dave and Cheryl…

We’ve been living and loving the Cariboo for over 20 years!
We originally came to Wells to enjoy the easy access to the beautiful mountain and water scenery and our unique and picturesque town.  From the moment we arrived, we’ve done everything we can to share our appreciation for where we live with others and to expand and improve the quality of life here.  It began with Guiding people on the Bowron Lakes and in the Mountains, but it soon expanded into a restaurant(the Bear’s Paw Cafe), where we could brag about Cheryl’s incredible cooking style and create a fun and relaxing atmosphere too.  One thing led to another and the Frog On the Bog was created as a stand-alone entity in 2008.  Five years later, one of our best friends and incredible potter, Joan Beck, sold us her store beside the Paw and we moved the Frog there and opened our first Vacation home in the cute little building we had been operating from.

In 2018 we opened the Frog in our current location when were so fortunate as to be able to save and renovate this historic building we’re now in.  In addition to a new, roomier, brighter retail space, the building includes a 1 and 1/2 story multi-roomed suite above, which we now operate as a second unique vacation experience for visitors!

Cheryl and Dave love the outdoors.  Skiing, Canoeing, Hiking are what we live for, but the guided experience is still our primary motivation.  We believe that the greatest value from a remarkable experience comes from being able to share it with others.  Accidentally, we have transferred that passion for sharing and guiding to all of our pursuits, and we hope it comes through in your experience at the Frog On The Bog.

Paula and Barry Curtis

Paula and Barry have lived in the area since 2010 and have made the Barkerville Corridor home. Paula is a graphic designer, artist, jewellery maker, Frog Snot inventor who also manages the store. She has been working with us since 2014. Her hubby Barry is the creative mind behind (he is also President of) the Secret Society of Dead Gold Miners line of clothing. Barry is responsible for the amazing acrylic paintings for sale in the store. If you see him you can also thank him for the marble racing run… GO RED! You have to look further into the site to see footage of this… or even better, come visit and challenge us to a race! Also look for the colouring book Barry’s Dad, Jason Curtis designed in our books section.
